If you need skill training, you may qualify for grants that will pay for your training costs.

To qualify for these grants, you must be unemployed and low income.  We are able to fund the following programs per approval and eligibility requirements:

  • Short-Term Training Programs
  • Technical School
  • Vocational School
  • Industry-Specific Certifications and/or Licensing

The following degrees are NOT available for funding:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degrees
  • Master’s degrees
  • Out-of-state programs
  • Correspondence programs

Ohio Works First

Ohio Works First (OWF) is a time limited cash assistance program designed to help meet the financial needs of eligible children and their parents.

All customers of cash benefits under OWF can also receive health care under the Medicaid program.

Program components also include:

  • Assessment of current levels of educational skills and employment history.
  • The development of a customized educational/ employment plan for achieving self-sufficiency.
  • Case Manager assisting with determination of best program activities for individual's goals for finding employment.

Prevention, Retention, and Contingency

Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) is a program designed to help families in different levels of need.

Participants may only need help to get past an initial barrier in order to work. PRC provides temporary help for a family while they are getting back on their feet due to unforeseen hardships. Each county designs its own PRC program to meet the needs of local families. PRC can help individuals keep jobs or help them get better jobs.
