Position yourself for next steps with a solid, confident introduction of who you are and how you can help the employer.

"With confidence, you have won before you have started."- Marcus Garvey

Some quick tips to help you ace your next interview:

  • Always be prepared:  Review the job description and your resume prior to your interview.  You should also do some research on the company if you have not already.
  • Practice aloud:  Review sample interview questions and practice reciting your answer.  Don’t just think about the answer, actually rehearse saying it.  Try it in front of a mirror to watch your expression and body language as well.
  • CAR Statements:   When answering behavioral-based interview questions (“Tell me about a time when…”), provide your answer in CAR format - Challenge, Action, Result.  Explain the situation, describe what you did, and how the situation was resolved.  This format helps keep your answers relevant to the question yet fully explains the necessary information.
  • Ask questions:  An interview is not an interrogation!  It should be more like a conversation.  Have questions to ask the interviewer as well.
