Posting your resume online and applying for jobs is great, but not enough. There is a hidden job market – up to 80% of jobs are never published or advertised. To tap into these opportunities, you need to network.
Not sure who is in your network? Think about who you know! Your family, friends, members of community service organizations, clubs, or professional societies, former coworkers, business partners, clients, etc... Let them know that you are job seeking! People want to help – and the more people who know you are looking, the more help you will get. Remember to always offer help in return.
You can also expand your network by attending professional networking events in your community or by creating a LinkedIn account (you can read more about that HERE!)
